ERP industry veteran, Caine Fearn head hunted by UK's most successful Odoo ERP Gold Partner, Smart IT.

Odoo ERP consultancy, Smart IT brings in seasoned industry-executive, Caine Fearne to lead the company in its next stage of growth.

The UK’s largest and most successful Odoo ERP gold partner, Smart IT has named Caine Fearne as its new managing director, replacing founder Barry Bullen who takes on an executive board position.

Headhunted from international financial services consultancy, Comply where he was Director of International Sales, Caine was previously managing director of SAP ERP reseller, Frontline Consultancy & Business Services where he trebled turnover over a five-year period.

In his new role, Caine will focus on expanding Smart IT’s footprint across the UK and into Europe whilst also building out the North American presence based in Vancouver, Canada.  The company currently has over 60 staff working across five offices following its purchase of Odoo Community specialist, Opus VL earlier this year.

Caine is an ERP and financial subject matter expert with deep knowledge and understanding of running businesses having demonstrated exceptional leadership, vision, and growth in his previous director roles.

“At the outset it was apparent Caine was a great fit for Smart IT not just because of his legacy of building high performing teams and delivering operational excellence and efficiency but because of his alignment with Smart IT’s values, explains Barry Bullen, founder of Smart IT and now an executive board director.
“Caine is focused on the culture of a business and ensuring a spirit of mutual respect in dealing with others, where trust, transparency, and the highest levels of integrity permeate throughout the organisation. And this approach is entirely in keeping with Smart IT’s values – values that when exemplified by management, give each employee a sense of support and appreciation. It was critical to me that whoever was to lead the company in its next stage of growth had to be people-centric in his approach.”

With more than 55% market share in the Odoo ERP UK space, Smart IT’s ambition is to grow to become the leading and most respected Odoo reseller in Europe. Caine’s appointment is pivotal to that strategy.

“I’m thrilled to take on this role at Smart IT and steer the company in a continual growth trajectory towards our aspiration of becoming Europe’s leading Odoo ERP partner”, comments Caine.

"To do that we need to develop further ‘go to market’ strategies for the future and enter new markets be that geographically or by industry. To hit our growth targets, it’s imperative we have the right team to do that, so we need to attract the best talent in the marketplace and more importantly retain that talent, especially under very difficult recruitment challenges right now. So, key parts of my role will be focusing on the culture of the business, providing strong leadership, whilst supporting sales. There’s so much to do, it’s an exciting time to join a business with this much potential,” comments Caine.

Barry Bullen says: “Only a few weeks into the role Caine has proved himself a natural leader, already providing mentoring and support to all his staff to help achieve company objectives in line with the strategy for growth. His management style is very accessible, and he is a very hands-on managing director with a constant eye on all the moving parts of what is a complex business. I’m delighted to have Caine on board.”
